The Alpha One Foundation is calling on the Minister for Health to intervene following a decision by the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics (NCPE) not to approve funding of the life-changing therapy Respreeza. Respreeza is the only proven treatment that slows the progression of emphysema caused by severe alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) or Alpha-1.

We are delighted to showcase our new educational film on Alpha-1 which was officially launched at the Annual Alpha-1 Conference on October 7th. The Annual Alpha-1 Patient Conference took place again this year in the Marino Institute of Education in Drumcondra in Dublin last Friday October 7th. Over 90 Alphas and family members attended what was our largest conference to date. It was great to see so many familiar faces but also a lot of first time attendees.  Tea, coffee and scones were a welcome start to the morning, particularly for those who had risen early and travelled long distances to attend.
