Alpha-1 Foundation Ireland attended the Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI, formerly MRCG) research conference and 21st birthday celebration in Dublin on September 18th. It was a conference to showcase all of the patient-focused research being carried out by the 37 member organisations of HRCI.
For more about HRCI visit their new website here. Take the time to read their excellent position paper called “Research Towards a Healthier Ireland” which can be downloaded here. Alpha-1 Foundation Ireland is proud to be a founding member of MRCG and wishes them every success as MRCG evolves to become Health Research Charities Ireland.
Alpha-1 Foundation Ireland presented a poster on our research activity and met old friend Jonathan McCrea who presented a feature programme on Alpha-1 on RTE TV back in 2014. To watch the show click on “Special RTE Report on Alpha-1 and COPD” in our video gallery here.
To many people (and governments) research is hard to grasp and funding can be difficult to justify, but without it, we can’t generate the knowledge needed to improve lives and develop new treatments.
